Word roots are the basis of a word, usually formed by adding other parts. Word roots often--but not always--can’t stand by themselves as their own English words.
Word roots are sometimes in the middle of a word, and sometimes at the beginning or end.
Prefix: A root you attach to the beginning of a word.
Suffix: A root you attach to the end of a word.
Words can have more than one root.
